Kirby, Texas: A City within San Antonio with Great Environment
Posted by Nu Home Source Realty on Thursday, September 15th, 2011 at 9:36pm.What are most well-known of San Antonio are the many different cities within the large city, which really make the metro city what it is today. Kirby, Texas is one of these small cities, which lies within Bexar County and holds a population of 8,673 San Antonio residents. The enclave of the San Antonio metro area is part of San Antonio’s metro statistical area, meaning that residents are considered to be part of San Antonio, but enjoy a greater peace, quiet, and privacy within the neighborhood community.
Not really what you would consider a typical neighborhood, Kirby is mostly a population of suburban families that has a great deal of agricultural settlement throughout. There are various backgrounds and cultures found in Kirby, which perhaps is a driving force between not only the great growth in population, but the pleasant atmosphere and sense of equality that is found within the community.
Originally founded as a community focused on agricultural growth and support, Kirby was initially developed by early German immigrants seeking better opportunities within the U.S. – and Kirby seemed to fit the bill. There was approximately 18 people in the area by 1920, which was mostly the farmers settling and developing atop the land. This was actually an area where German was a fluent language, and the most spoken language in the community.
During the 50’s, the city of Kirby changed from mostly agricultural to mainly military, and many residents begin to settle in homes that were conveniently located in conjunction with the Randolph AFB. At this time, the population had reached 600 and was no longer predominantly German speaking residents. By 1955, Kirby had been incorporated, giving it a status of being its own small city.
While there was a great deal of turbulence in the growth of the area, it has stood as a bright point of San Antonio, with residents added to the population each year. The students in the neighborhood are part of the Judson Independent School District, which includes Hopkins Elementary School, Kirby Middle, and Karen Wagner High.
There are now various sections of the small city which creates the bulk of the diversity in the area and allows the new residents to enjoy greater sites, venues, attractions, and scenes of the city. Still considered to be a bright point of San Antonio, TX, there are so many homes to choose from, with various different cost ranges and a wonderful sense of life found within.Be the first to comment on this blog entry!
